Welcome

You are invited to participate in the life of our congregation. Our weekly activities include worship, Christian education, children’s clubs, youth groups, small groups, choirs, and service projects.

Our Mission

Our mission as a congregation is to:

·   worship creatively with all ages through biblical preaching, hearty singing, and practical living applications

·   serve human needs through service and advocacy projects

·   live as followers of Jesus Christ, simply and peacefully demonstrating the connection between a religious tradition and modern-day life

·   challenge ourselves and others to think about faith and its effect on life.

Our Worship Service

First Mennonite Church worships with an emphasis on scripture, community, peace and social justice issues and the practical living of Christian principles.

Order of Service

Our order of service is printed in detail each Sunday in our weekly bulletin. It provides instructions for when to stand (stay seated if standing is uncomfortable for you) and to sit.

Introductions

Members at First Mennonite Church enjoy meeting our guests. At part of our worship services a cordless microphone is often made available for the introduction of guests (either by a friend or by the guests themselves). If you feel comfortable introducing yourself, that’s great. If you do not feel comfortable with this, that’s fine, too.

Communion

At First Mennonite Church we practice open communion. All baptized believers in Jesus Christ are invited to participate in our communion services.

Worship Aids

Several worship aids are available for persons with failing eyesight or hearing. Large-print hymnals make it easier for some to enjoy the music of the congregation. Hearing enhancement aids are also available. Both the large-print hymnals and the hearing enhancement aids are available in the church lobby. An elevator is also available at the Jackson Street entrance for those people who find it difficult to climb stairs.  Ushers are available for assistance.
